break Miss a week?

Our lives have become so modern and convenient that sometimes it's hard to imagine what it was like when food was not fast, easy, and readily available. But our ancestors had a very different experience, often going for long periods without eating. As such, their bodies had to be prepared and evolved to be able to withstand harsh conditions and long periods of time without food....
What if getting healthy had very little to do with obsessing over what you eat or worrying about how much you exercise? What if you could make weight loss and health automatic? In fact, research shows that is the best way to lose weight and get healthy. You can design a life where health and weight loss are an automatic side effect of your environment....

Is coconut oil healthy or not? If you’re confused, it’s no wonder. Last week’s nutrition controversy began with a viral USA Today headline shouting “coconut oil isn’t healthy and it’s never been healthy” surprised many. That startling announcement was due to a presidential advisory published by the American Heart Association (AHA) advising people to replace saturated fats, as in coconut oil, with omega-6 polyunsaturated fats from vegetable oils....
Having a peaceful meal isn’t just about setting a mood, it actually helps you digest and assimilate your food better. Ever rushed through a meal and felt afterward as if the food just sat there, like a brick, in your stomach? According to nutritional psychologist Marc David, MA, that effect occurs because when we eat under stress, we essentially shut down our digestive system. Make a point of eating in a state of relaxation, says David, and you’ll enhance not just your enjoyment, but your digestion and metabolism too. “It is probably more important to relax and count our blessings,” he adds, “than it is to count our calories.”...
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” —Psalm 46:10 Studies have shown that prayer improves attention and planning, reduces depression and anxiety, decreases sleepiness, and protects the brain from cognitive decline associated with normal aging. Making requests of God is one important form of prayer—he says to keep on asking and you shall receive (Luke 11:9)....

INGREDIENTS:
• 1 pound strawberries
• 6 ounce blueberries
• 3 bananas
• 12 wood skewers

DIRECTIONS:
1. Wash strawberries and blueberries. Set blueberries aside
for later use.

2. Remove stems off of the strawberries, cut each in half and
then cut off the tips to create 1/2”-3/4” slices. Set aside.

3. Slice the bananas to about 1/2”-3/4” thickness. Set aside.

4. Start skewering the blueberries on the first stick. Skewer
about 5-6 blueberries then alternate between banana
slices an strawberry slices until you reach the end of the
skewer. Repeat for 4 skewers.

5. Next, skewer only the bananas and strawberries,
alternating the fruit. Repeat for 4 skewers.

6. Lastly, skewer 5-6 blueberries onto an end of a skewer.
Repeat for 4 skewers.

7. Place your skewers onto a platter to create an American
flag pattern. Use the skewers with only blueberries to fill
in the gaps in the star section of the design.

8. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
