break Miss a week?

Let’s face it. Holiday season = party season. And too many parties = too many chances to make unhealthy choices. But there is a way to survive the holiday party season and still make healthy choices. Here are some suggestions from the experts on how you can avoid the pitfalls of holiday festivities. All it takes is a little preparation and some wise decision-making....
You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay; you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. —Isaiah 64:8 NIV\Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in looking at how far we are from being a finished piece of pottery instead of celebrating what a beautiful work of art God has already made. We focus too much on the weight we haven’t lost, the sleep we haven’t had, and the amount of time we sit instead of moving....
As a special treat, we’re featuring an easy, healthy and delicious nut mix for your holiday parties from our friends at Experience Life Magazine....
Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night is absolutely essential for maintaining your mental edge, losing weight, and keeping depression at bay. But if you suffer from anxiety, good sleep may be little more than an elusive dream....
Everybody feels stress and knows it intimately, but very few of us think about what stress is. Stress is a thought. That’s it. No more, no less. If that’s true, then we have complete control over stress, because it’s not something that happens to us but something that happens in us. The dictionary definition of stress is, “bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium.” It is your thoughts out of balance....
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:13...
The American Heart Association recommends that adults get no more than 5 percent of their calories from saturated fat, and urges people to use vegetable oils instead. The AHA advises people to eat at least 5 to 10 percent of their calories in the form of omega 6 PUFAs - that’s polyunsaturated fat. The rationale for this is that unlike saturated fat, linolenic acid from PUFAs lower LDL cholesterol levels....
As winter approaches, many folks demand an antibiotic at first sneeze. Not only does this add to the epidemic of antibiotic-resistant superbugs, but antibiotics don’t kill viruses anyway — they kill bacterial infections, so taking them for viral ills like colds and flu is truly a waste, and a potentially life-threatening one at that....
Heath trends are a dime a dozen these days. It seems like every week there's a new superfood discovered or another exotic berry being touted as the ultimate all-in-one-cure-for-everything. The truth remains that our health is a profoundly diverse topic and there is no "one size fits all" approach. For example, can you imagine trying to convince people from remote hunter-gatherer regions that they should be vegan? What would they do; plant a kale patch behind in the middle of the dessert? Despite our bio-individuality, there are some scientifically proven ways to increase overall quality of life without breaking the bank or diving too deeply into the confusing world of health fads....
Know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. —Ephesians 3:19 ...
