Squash season is here! In the US, I often see acorn squash as the most common variety, but I actually find that to be the least flavorful of the squashes. I’d like to introduce people to a variety of other squash types! Then you can get creative with your squash and enjoy the many flavors of this incredible harvest vegetable....
It’s possible to think positively if you KILL YOUR ANTS! We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with fear and bad news that triggers our automatic negative thinking—ANTS! Need proof? Just turn on the TV or cruise through the net. Doom and gloom stories dominate the headlines—because fear makes us pay attention....
We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. —2 Corinthians 10:5 Dr. Daniel Amen says, “Thoughts exert a powerful influence over your life and body. Uninvestigated thoughts provide the emotional fuel for anger, anxiety, depression and unhealthy behaviors.” He wants us to investigate our thoughts, to ask ourselves whether they are true to the real world and line up with what Scripture teaches....
Time is a commodity these days as our obligations increase. Unfortunately, our health often becomes shortchanged as we pack in more responsibilities and a drive-thru or ordering-in seems like the fastest and best food choices, contributing to our ever-expanding diabesity epidemic....
Ah, pumpkin. That enduring orange symbol of autumn. So festive, so decorative — and so rarely eaten despite all the nutrients packed inside. Most of us view pumpkins simply as those big orange gourds you carve before Halloween. And, unless pumpkin turned up in a pie at Thanksgiving, few of us have ever eaten it....
What’s it like when you get the news that you have an incurable illness? Despite eating well and being fit, Saddleback’s Karate Ministry leader, Manny Johnston knew something was wrong. “Simple movements and tasks felt as though I was moving in quicksand,” he says. “Along with the physical issues were a marked slowing of speech, stuttering, difficulty expressing my thoughts, and memory recall.” In 2014 came the diagnosis, Parkinson’s, for which there is no cure. ...
? “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” —Matthew 19:26 Pastor Rick Warren says, “It’s hard to be spiritually strong and mentally alert when we’re emotionally stressed or physically fatigued.” That’s why we want our bodies to be fit—not as an end in itself, but so we can possess the vitality to embrace all that God has for us....

Waffles are a kid pleaser for sure, and these waffles can double as bread or a Daniel Plan-approved dessert! For breakfast, we recommend topping the waffles with almond butter, bananas, and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a nutritional power punch....
While there are many great mentors you can learn from that can help you knock your goals out of the park, what if I told you that you are by far the most powerful mentor you have? Using your past success as a template for overcoming bad habits is an excellent way to fuel future victory. Think about a negative habit or pattern that you successfully overcame. Get clear about the wisdom you gleaned and lessons you learned and apply the same strategy to the current effort to change your unhealthy behaviors. The fact that you broke at least one bad habit is proof that you can do it again!...
