Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. —Genesis 2:7

From the beginning of the world, you were designed to have a body. Your body wasn’t an afterthought tacked on to your soul. The Bible says that when God formed the first human being, he made him from the physical stuff of the earth and breathed God’s own Spirit or Breath into him to make him a living being. Adam, the first man, was embodied from day one.

Treasure your body. God does. You are a wondrous body-mind-spirit person. He designed you to need plant food to nourish the cells of your body, water to hydrate those cells, exercise to make your muscles and internal organs work well. Needs aren’t negative; he designed you to have them.

Instead of focusing on the aspects of your body that frustrate you, try celebrating what God made. Thank God for your body—your body is you.

Food for Thought: Your body is a wondrous treasure designed by God himself.
