From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you. – Isaiah 48:6 NIV

When we begin any new habit, our performance is bound to be imperfect.

There is nearly always some time when we jostle between the new ways and the old ways. The new ways may be unfamiliar; they take getting used to. That’s why in The Daniel Plan we talk about progress not perfection.

God’s amazing grace is not just that he forgives our failures, but he also gives us the power to start over. He promises that he will fit everything, even our setbacks and relapses, into his plan and purpose for our lives.

When we get off-track, we simply stop, make a U-turn, and get back on the right road. We pray, “Bring us back to you, God—we’re ready to come back. Give us a fresh start” (Lamentations 5:21 MSG).

And the wonder of his grace is that he gives us that fresh start again and again, as many times as it takes.

Food for Thought: As you’re learning a new way of living, you get as many chances as it takes to keep starting afresh.
