DESTINATION DANIEL STRONG

By Sean Foy, MA

What images come to mind when you see the word “strong”? A massive man or woman on a stage posing with bulging muscles? A powerful 300-pound football player?  An Olympic Gold medalist weight lifter? Do you think of Daniel from the Bible? Daniel, possessed strength, which was well beyond the size of his muscles. A strength of; faith, courage, obedience, devotion, dedication, endurance and discipline in body, mind and spirit unparalleled by any other man. What does Daniel Strong look like? We can sum up what it is to be Daniel Strong with this:

Daniel Strong = A pursuit of excellence in body, mind and spirit  for God’s Glory

Daniel’s pursuit of excellence demonstrated itself in his faithfulness in doing the little things, when no one was watching. He had a strength to do what was honoring to God, what was right, even in the face of danger, conflict or against what everyone else was doing. Daniel had an ability to “Do the Hard Things” as teen authors Alex and Brett Harris, call it.  And  that’s exactly what is required to experience Daniel Strength.

There will be some days when you don’t feel like pursuing excellence in your exercise or eating well or trusting God, but by “doing the hard things”, for God’s glory, He will give you a strength you may have never experienced before. Over time, doing the “hard things”, again and again,  will lead to a strength of character, confidence and courage forged by God, which will propel you to be Daniel Strong
