Have you ever felt like you could eat anything in sight? Strike that. Have you ever felt like you could eat everything in sight? That is what we call a food emergency. This is when your blood sugar drops and using willpower to keep hunger under control is nearly impossible.

The solution to fight the lure of convenient fast food on our way home from work or choosing the vending machine in hour of need is quite simple.

Be prepared. Plan ahead and bring food with you.

First, here are some tips to avoid a food emergency. These tips will help you fend off the desperation mode eating.

  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Eat every three to four hours.
  • Hydrate your body throughout the day.
